SEO Tools and Ramblings

I have been planning to re-do my old portfolio (found on my old website) but I keep putting it off for some time now. Luckily, I managed to force myself to do it over the weekend. If you’ve noticed, I have added the portfolio page on my site navigation. If you have time, please check it out.

On recent technology news, Google reader can now display the number of RSS subscribers for any website feed. Bloglines used to be the only one displaying the number of RSS subscribers, until Google decided to join in the fun.

With regards to search engine optimization, here is a great tool from Shoemoney to keep track of your website ranking for certain keywords on different search engines.

And finally, there were questions and doubts going around the blogosphere on whether Widgetbucks will be really paying the $25 they promised to publishers as a sign-up bonus. The issue came about when publishers registered and still saw no earnings in their accounts.

As you can see in the screenshot, they just paid me the $25 they promised. So, if you still haven’t registered for Widgetbucks, register now. It’s free!

I’ve had a lot of trouble marketing to keywords that I know will drive significant amounts of traffic in comparison to my content.

This tool is great because I can see which keywords are drawing traffic now. But I really wish there was a tool that could suggest what keywords to begin to market to pull in the crowds.

Any ideas?

Hi Jerad. It’s not easy. There are already a lot of websites fighting over good keywords. So you have to target keywords which are not being targeted but still generate you traffic.

I think this is a hit and miss process. But with more testing, I’m sure you’ll be able to find the right keywords for your site.

My two cents…Just continue posting interesting topics even with competitive keywords and continue the link building process. Example, my post last April suddenly brings traffic to my blog now (after 6 months) when it hits the first page of Google for naruto porn keyword.

Habang tumatagal, tumataas yung ranking ng blog mo, yung lumang posts, umaangat. I even took the challenge of optimizing my text messages blog for text messages keyword despite hundreds of millions competitors. After more than a year, now it’s on second page of Google. :) Tyagaan lang yan. Sana, makafirst page na next month.

Wow. Thanks a lot Marhgil!

I tried googling for those keywords. Very nice! Good job. Did you also link bait for the naruto porn keyword? I’m sure you did on text messages. I really really appreciate your insights Marhgil. Thanks. Hope to see you at the first page too.

Yung text messages, the blog itself is a link bait eh. Basta mga blogger na mahilig sa quotes, automatic na nila nililink. :D Yung naruto porn, more of forum signature links. Medyo active rin kasi ako sa maraming forum. If you have 100 posts sa isang forum, isang update mo lang ng signature with your links, 100 links na kaagad yun :)
