Free Genuine Autoresponder. No Ads Whatsoever.

A few weeks ago, I was looking for an auto responder script to be used in my other websites. A lot of people have been recommending me Aweber but I don’t intend to pay $20 a month for my auto responder so I searched for scripts that were free. I found a lot of them but not without a catch. Some displayed ads, some limited your number of subscribers and outgoing messages, while some cannot be integrated to your website.

Luckily I found Infinite Responder by Aaron Coleman of Adaptive Business Design. I have installed the script and it totally gives you what the other autoresponders could give, but minus the ads. The script is released under the GPL which only requires you to maintain a proper credit to the author.

Basic Requirements:
* A web server (Apache or IIS)
* PHP 4.3 or greater (the 5.x series seems to work fine)
* MySQL 4 or greater (MySQL 5 is highly recommended)
* IMAP library is required for bounce and mail checking
* Crontab for scheduled mail sending

Main Features:
* GPL Licensed
* Single or Double Opt-In
* Easy web-based subscriptions
* Email-based subscriptions
* Sequential and absolute timing
* Newsletter style mail bursts
* Easy bounce handling
* Unlimited messages and lists
* Individual scheduled messages
* Full web-based control panel
* Easy setup and installation
* Easily add emails individually or in a group
* HTML and text email messages
* Multi-part HTML ensures readability

The author also provides support through his forum. He is very supportive too. I have emailed Aaron for questions regarding his script and he responded quickly. :)

better watch out tho - I have been suspended because my host thought I was spaming because of the load of emails that was going out via my auto responder, I think its better to get a third party to handle all your emails and autoresponder as they can tell who signed up and who didnt

with your host they may think you are mass spamming

Oh. That I didn’t know. So what happened? Did you transfer to another host? Thanks for the warning Ian. I’ll have to look into that to make sure my host know I’m not mass spamming. :)

I’m working on installing this script today. Just having a bit of trouble with the crontab - I find the installation instructions are a bit vague.

My server is acting completely clueless giving me vague and stupid answers to my specific questions about where and how I get this code working on my site. Do I just use that tool in the manual to generate the code, put it in a notepad file called cron.txt and upload it somewhere on my server?

Argh! This software looks great, but this cron confusion is rough. I’m not gonna pay $30 to have it installed and so I’m looking around for something easier to install.

A follow up - as I continued browsing for an easier script to install, I found a free good-looking script with NO need for Cronjobs! Instead you just put a mini image on a trafficked page of your site and each time it’s loaded it does the checking for you! That may be better for me.

If you want to try this one out, here’s the link

Carina you can do the something with this script or just use the php include tag on a page that is visited often.

The main problem with this method is that the script won’t run unless the page has visitors. Not a very reliable method.

If you have access to Cpanel cron not that hard to setup. Select the “advance” method for cron setup in Cpanel and follow the examples in the manual.

@Steve: That is true. The put a mini image technique is not very reliable because the script won’t run unless it is visited.

@Carina: Check with your host provider. Most of the hosting right now provides Cpanel Cronjobs that are easily set up. Just point and click.

Hi everyboy

I need your help, I instaled the infinite autoresponder, and I put my email, but I just receive the message of welcome, and no more. I configure the autoresponder with 10 messages and it will be send 1 per day.

I dont know if I have bad my cronjobs, look for example I put whereis.php and I receive this inform:

php: /usr/bin/php /etc/php.ini /etc/php.d /usr/lib/php.ini /usr/lib/php
/usr/local/bin/php /usr/local/lib/php.ini /usr/local/lib/php.ini,v
/usr/local/lib/php /usr/include/php /usr/man/man1/php.1

and I use any of this directions and the cronjobs work, but I dont know i the cronjobs work for my autoresponder.

Now I have the infinite autoresponder in this file for example:

/home/dominio/public_html/responder

The point is that I dont know how integrate this file with some file of the cronjobs.

I try some forms but anything work all, sena a message that sey directiy denied.

For example I put:

/usr/bin/php/home/dominio/public_html/responder

but dont work.

please help me really muy head is hot, I dont know whats happened.

Thanks for your time and congratulations for your site!!
