How to Get Online Jobs from Outsourcing Companies

A friend here in Cebu got a Dual Monitor Apple Mac Pro delivered to his doorsteps and best of all, it was free! Sponsored by his employer. Pretty sweet!

It’s no secret that a lot of people want to work abroad because of the chance to earn in dollars, but because you also live there, you also spend money in dollars which makes your cost of living high. Unlike if you work online, you can earn dollars and still get to spend in pesos.

Doesn’t Happen Overnight

First of all, the gifts and sponsored computers he got was there for a reason. He was working as a web designer for a US Company which is why he got the Apple Mac Pro. And besides that, he has proven himself to the company for about a year before he got the free computer.

Main advantages:

- Free and flexible time since you work online
- Per hour rate or per project contract
- Free gifts from your employer (especially Christmas)
- You can work for a lot more employers compared to just working for one company

He did share that sometimes, his work schedule gets too cramped because of all the deadlines he has to catch up with. But still, it’s part of the job. :)

How to Get an online Job?

- First and foremost, you need to have an online portfolio of your work for your future employers to see. Just like my web portfolio.
- Complete your resume and package yourself and stand out for the job you are applying to.
- Check out online job listings and apply to jobs that you want.
- My friend shared that you should first apply to jobs listed in your country, just like these Web Design Opportunities open for Cebu residents.
- Look for recruitment websites and then you can try applying for jobs overseas, like jobs oxford.
- Do not be afraid to apply to multiple job listings, in fact you should apply to a lot since not all of them will get back to you.

Final Thoughts:

My friend really deserved the Apply Mac Pro. He is really a great web designer and a cool flash artist. Anyway, before you go and apply to a job that you want, just make sure that you love what you are doing. Because even if there are so much advantages in working online, if you do not have passion is what you are doing, you will not last.

Indeed Sylv. I got all jelly over it. Haha

Good thing you also get sponsored laptops. That’s a pretty good deal too. What kind of laptops do they give you?

It depends on us (me) since we’re just given the budget XD. If mine’s given this year, I may go for a DELL UMPC (hopefully the E series is out by then) XD
