I've tried using Mambo. But Joomla is better since it has a wider community for resources. I'm also looking into OpenCMS but haven't really tried it.

Actually, a lot of people have already begun using Wordpress as a stand alone CMS. Although you really need to invest time in learning how to implement the Web 2.0 features.

Comparing all of them, my favorite is WP because of it's simplicity and vast number of free resources.

I have my eyes on web 2.0 features for quite some time now. That's why I'm still figuring out whether to migrate to OpenCMS. Joomla and Drupal are still in my consideration. They already have Web 2.0 features like Mac OS X docking slider, javascript goodies, wrapper to insert a page inside a page and so much more. And I really don't want to pay exclusive high fees for exclusive Wordpress themes when I can make it on my own.(need time to learn that).
Open CMS is free too but the learning curves are very steep. Difficult to decide coz Wordpress have so many plugins and themes, where Open CMS have few.

Those are pretty good tips. The slider and tabbed content are my favorites. Bookmarked.
