It’s my very first time ever attending New York Comic Con and boy did it deliver! From the amazing cosplays, floor exclusive previews to exclusive behind the scene panels, they were great. This year was especially special because it was Stan Lee’s last year to attend NY Comic Con, at least that’s what the report says. He is quite old at 93 years old, so it makes sense. My brother being a huge fan was very excited for an opportunity to meet him and to get a photo op so we took advantage!

Half of the fun was just exploring the show floor and getting that “kid in the candy store” feeling of excitement and not knowing what was there! I loved the strolling the floor browsing action figures, posters and comics. Even better with all the cosplayers all around you and these people don’t joke around with their cosplays. People spend months building, creating their costumes and spending a pretty penny.

The other half of the fun was attending the panels! There were so many panels and guests to choose from. Mainly from different genres whether you’re into comic books, games, tv shows or movies. We were mostly into the entertainment genre so we were mostly looking forward to the biggest panel which was The Walking Dead. For this year, they changed it because they separated the big panels into Madison Square Garden and kept the smaller panels in Javits Center.

We were very lucky because we were able to attend the big panels! We got to see Keanue Reeves previewing John Wick 2 which was amazing. He’s a local New Yorker and I’ve heard he’s a really awesome, down to earth guy.

And of course, we were able to attend the main event – The Walking Dead panel. It was amazing seeing all the casts! Everyone was there except for Rick Grimes and Carl but Rick was pretty nice to send a letter which were read by the cast and it was a pretty funny skit. Overall, we really enjoyed it!

How to Maximize Your Experience for NY Comic Con?

My suggestion is to plan everything out in advanced and try to get there earlier especially if you want to attend the bigger and more popular panels. If you’re not looking to attend the big panels, then it’s not that big of a deal. You can just explore the show floor and try out a lot of previews and goodies 🙂
